This year for Halloween Remi wanted to be a mermaid, Parker a Lyon(Simba), Alissa as Cinderella, Kelsi a skunk and Broden a ghost. We got all the costumes put together one Friday before Blake's work party and the kids wore them to that party. Then Broden decided he didn't want to be a ghost anymore because he couldn't see. So he became a bug catcher!
Halloween week we enjoyed a pumpkin carving party with our friends, where we actually didn't carve pumpkins. We just enjoyed being with our friends, then carved pumpkins another time with our family. Then on Halloween I took the kids trick or treating at the hospital. There is always a party for all the med group there. They have crafts and go to the different clinics in the hospital. Its cute to see all the kids dressed up. Everyone thought Parker was the cutest "little lyon" to which he would respond, I not a little lyon, I a big lyon! It was too cute.
That night we headed to a dinner at Ingersoll's house, then onto base to go trick or treating. It was a big group of us and tons of fun!
I always enjoy making the kids costumes or using what we have and this year we didn't spend anything. I had everything laying around or in the craft room. I think we only spent about 8 hours on costumes. Remi's took the longest, but we had fun doing it together and she loved it! Parker and Kelsi's were just on a whim and I thought they turned out pretty cute. Broden did his all by himself. He has a little book with all the nature discovery stuff you can collect for catching bugs and reptiles. He saw the picture of the kid in the book and copied his outfit. He even made sure his shirt was light blue, with a dark blue trim at the neck! He sure notices details:)
