Pre Christmas Activities

One of the best parts of living in Englad is the school's Christmas presentations. They actually tell the story of Christ. Broden's this year was "A Prickly Hay Hoe Down." It told the story about the stable girl that took care of the animals in the stable where Christ was born. She was worried about the hay that was poky for the animals to sleep on, so she put it the manger for them to eat instead. Then Mary and Joseph came and laid Jesus in the manger. He kept crying, so they took him outside to look at the stars and the stable girl hurried and replaced the hay with soft hay. They sang a song about how we are all important, no matter our job. It was a really cute play. Broden was a narrator and his part was, "Jesus birth made everyone in the Stable feel important that night." He did awesome!

His class did the play 3 times. One dress rehearsal for the school, then one in the afternoon and one in the evening. I got to go to the one in the evening and Blake got to leave work early to go to his afternoon show.

Alissa also was in a Christmas play. It was Christmas in the toy shop. It was about all the toys in a toy shop the night before the first Christmas. It also included the nativity with a little twist. All the toys did something as a gift for Baby Jesus. The dolls danced, the Jack in a Boxes Jumped, the clowns laughed, the trains chugged but Baby Jesus was sad, so the shy cuddly bunny cuddles with him to make him happy. It was cute to see all the 4 and 5 year olds doing their parts. Alissa was a dancing doll and was perfect for the part. I think she still thinks she is a doll and needs pink cheeks all the time because she is always putting on my blush! Blake wasn't sure if he was going to make it to her play because it was during school, but he snuck out of the office for a little while and made it just in time. She was so excited to see him!
Remi had a class assembly one Friday in December too. Her class presented all the things they had been learning about. Her part was to test the teachers of their knowledge of their multiplication and addition skills. They also had 2 of the teachers play "Zap." It is where 2 people stand back to back, and someone gives them a multiplication problem. The first person to turn around and "shoot" the other person, say zap and the answer wins. It was pretty funny hearing the teachers do it. Then another group talked about teeth. They even talked about Mr. Jones, Remi's dad coming to teach them about teeth. It was fun to hear all the things Remi was learning about in school.

Monday, December 16th Remi and Broden had their first Piano Recital. They each played a Christmas song and did great! We were so proud of them and how hard they worked. Remi played, "Away in a Manger" and Broden played, "We Wish You a Merry Christmas."

Their teacher is a good friend. She cuts my hair, is my counselor in Primary, teaches them piano, babysits our kids, plays volleyball with us and basically is like an aunt to them. It was fun to hear all the students play. Most of them are in the primary of our ward.

A few weeks before Christmas Blake got a puzzle at the store. We had so much fun doing it together. We had a rule that we could only work on it together. It was fun working together and talking as we completed the puzzle. It was really pretty!

Kelsi enjoyed sleeping or playing on the ground while we worked;)
