Jam

That weekend KC and Chris headed to Dover, then over to Stonehenge. Blake thought it would be good for them to get out on their own and do something, so he sent them off in his car with our GPS and some tour books. Not sure this was a good idea.... his car is stick, BRITISH style. So the steering wheel is on the oposite side, which means the shifting is done with your left hand, so poor KC was driving in a new country, didn't know where he was going, a different side of the road, and different side of the car. He was brave. I think it was a bit much though. I would have been terrified to do that my first month in England. I didn't drive Blake's car for probably 4 months after we moved here.

So while they were adventuring down south we had a fun weekend at home. Strawberries were on sale at the commissary, so I decided to try making Strawberry freezer jam without sugar. I researched and came up with a recipe I thought would be good. We just made a little though to make sure it was ok. It was really, really thick, but other than that it was good. Blake even liked it, which is saying a lot. He doesn't usually like "healthy" things. I forgot to tell him it had to be kept in the fridge though and it went bad at his work. It doesn't have preservatives, so it won't last a really long time outside of the freezer, but the jars are small enough we can use it before it goes bad.

We cut off the bottom half of our milk carton and used the top as a funnel. Worked great because the opening was beg enough to let the strawberries through.
The ingredients and end result!
I reused the jars from the jam I buy at the store. They are little smucker's Simply fruit strawberry jam that doesn't have added sugar or sweeteners. Wish I could get their recipe.
Alissa taste testing our jam.
